Greetings Westville UMC Family!
It’s hard to believe how time is flying by. It seems like I just wrote the August Pastoral Letter for the Word and now I’m writing it for September. I hope this letter finds you well and looking forward to Fall. Fall is my favorite season. Nature’s colors just burst into our lives with all their magnificence. Take time for yourself to slow down and enjoy the scenery before it passes you by.
There are many things that I want to write about in this letter. Hopefully, it will all fit. These are not in order of importance.
First, I want to share that I am doing a sermon series on “An Ordinary Day with Jesus.” Do you take Jesus with you throughout your day? When you rise? When you go to bed? While you work? While you play? And so on. This sermon series will start on Sunday, September 10th.
Second, a few weeks ago I talked about holding Bible classes for different age groups. The Bible class is called “Journey to the Center of the Bible.” This class will help us to understand how to read the Bible; how it came to be; the authors; how it’s broken down; and so on. Look for more information to come in the near future.
Third, I have set Sunday mornings aside, for the time being, for a “Meet & Greet with your Pastor” (Couldn’t think of a better title, so there you have it). This will start on Sunday, August 27th. We will meet in the Family Life Center from 9:00a.m.—until 9:50a.m. I want to get to know you, whether you are a member of Westville UMC or not. I don’t want to take anyone away from their Sunday School Class. If a Sunday School Class would like me to “Meet & Greet” the whole class some Sunday, let me know and I will put it on the calendar. Let’s take time to get to know one another better; let’s take time to build relationships.
Finally, because of the current events of our day & age, we need God more than ever. I plan on intentionally giving us more opportunities to come together and pray for our country and for our world. Would you like more days where the Sanctuary is open for everyone to come in and pray throughout the day? Would you like to have specific times set up where we gather together during the week for devotion; worship; and prayer? Let me know what your thoughts are or what God has placed on your heart.
We are the church at all times, no matter where we are or who we are with, we are the church. Proverbs 3:5, 6 says, “Trust in the LORD will all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE will make your paths straight.” Don’t despair! God is with us!
Love & Blessings to you and yours, Pastor Cathy Allison
