Greetings Westville UMC Family!
My family and I are so very blessed to be a part of this great family! This is an amazing congregation. As I get to know everyone better, I just praise God for having the opportunity to serve here.
As we go into October, as Westville United Methodist Church, we have a lot to celebrate. This coming year we will celebrate our 150th Anniversary throughout the whole year. We are planning a potluck on Sunday, October 22nd after worship. Food, fun, fellowship, and sharing ideas for celebrating our 150th Anniversary. Please come with your ideas and bring food!
I would like to recognize and give “Thanks” for the many ways that God works through Westville UMC:
When Hurricane Harvey decided to damage Texas, our Resale Shop stepped up and sent all of their summer clothes to Texas. What an amazing group of volunteers! The store looks amazing. Remember, they can always use help if you have time to donate, please contact the Resale Shop.
The Farmer’s Market on Monday evenings has given us a chance to meet people in our community. Members of this congregation and members of the community bring produce and other items to share with one another. What a great way to give. I am sorry to see this end as we go into Fall. Thank you to everyone who played a part in this ministry.
Our “Care & Share” backpack ministry is up and running. We are currently providing food for about 43 students each week. Thank you to everyone who has donated food items, their time, and money to make this ministry a reality. Thank you to the Resale Shop for providing funds to help with this ministry, as well. You are invited to help keep this ministry going week after week.
Thank you for stepping up and helping to pay off the mortgage on our Family Life Center. We are more than halfway there. If you are able to give a little beyond your regular giving, please do. Once we have paid this mortgage off, we will be able to focus on Missions.
Thank you to all of our current leaders for staying in your position of leadership for at least one more year as I get more accustomed to Westville UMC. I am truly amazed by our leadership here. Thank you to Marian McCuen for stepping up to chair our Missions’ Team and to Missy Buehrer for saying “Yes” to leading our youth.
As we continue to move forward, don’t ever forget that with everything going on in this world, along with our own personal concerns, we are not alone. The Great Shepherd walks with us every day on our journey. Keep these words from Jesus in your heart: “…surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). Reach out, take His hand, and let Him be your guide every moment of every day.
Love & Blessings to you and yours, Pastor Cathy Allison
